Promising a preemptive pardon for former President Donald Trump is wrong, former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, one of Trump’s rivals in the GOP presidential primaries, said Sunday.

« It’s just wrong for a candidate to use the pardon power of the United States, the president, to grab votes and get a line of applause, » Hutchinson said during an interview on CNN’s « State of the Union. » «

Vivek Ramaswamy, another would-be GOP president, on Thursday vowed to pardon the former president if he is found guilty of the charges unveiled by federal prosecutors last week. Earlier in the same Sunday programme, Ramaswamy said he had « no faith » in the « vague allegations », detailed in the 49-page indictment.
