British businessman Shahzada Dawood, 48, and his son Suleman, 19, are aboard the missing submersible, according to a statement by Engro Corporation, based in Karachi, Pakistan.
The eldest Mr. Dawood, a scion of one of Pakistan’s wealthiest families, is the Vice President of Engro and has experience in manufacturing textiles and fertilizers. He has served on boards of directors in a variety of industries, according to the website of the World Economic Forum.
He is also a member of the Global Advisory Board of Prince’s Trust International, the charity of King Charles III. Her father, Hussain, was one of the charity’s founding patrons, the trust said in a statement.
Mr Dawood and his son are British subjects. Mr. Dawood and his wife Christine also have a daughter, Alina.
« We are shocked by this terrible news, pray for a rescue and send our thoughts to his family during this deeply difficult time, » Prince’s Trust International chief executive Will Straw said in a statement.
Second a post on the SETI Institute website, a scientific organization of which Mr. Dawood is a trustee, the businessman is an ardent animal lover. Engro Corporation said his interests include photography, especially nature photography, and the exploration of different natural habitats.
The company said Suleman Dawood is a big fan of science fiction literature, plays volleyball and has a keen interest in solving Rubik’s cubes.
