But several Republicans, including the chairman of the oversight committee James Comer (R-Ky.), immediately criticized the deal as a « love affair » and vowed to pursue his months-long investigation into Hunter’s affairs.
Under a unique section of the tax code reserved for chairs of congressional tax writing committees, which was used last year by Democrats to release former President Donald Trump’s tax returns, Smith could publicly release any tax information private owned by Hunter Biden by majority vote.
