Billionaire entrepreneur and Twitter owner Elon Musk is falling out with Mark Zuckerberg, and the head of Facebook is ready.
Musk (on Twitter, of course) started the spat Wednesday by laughing at Zuckerberg’s Meta attempting to launch his own « run healthily« Twitter’s microblogging competitor.
« I’m sure Earth is eager to be solely under Zuck’s control with no other options, » Musk She said. « At least it will be ‘healthy’. »
The South African entrepreneur then added: « I’m up for a cage match if that’s lol. »
Zuckerberg he answered on Instagram (which is owned by Meta) with a screenshot of Musk’s tweet, titled: « Send me location. »
« If this is true, I will 🔥🔥 », Musk tweeted in response to a screen-cap from the Zuckerberg Instagram Story. Later, he tweeted « Vegas Octagon », referring to a venue used for Ultimate Fighting Championship fights.
If the two billionaires end up going hand-in-hand in the Octagon, refereeing the match could be a job for EU Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton, who is expected to meet both Musk and Zuckerberg during a trip to the US this week – and wants Big Tech to call him « The Enforcer ».
When asked if the swap was serious, a spokesman for Meta he told the Verge: « The story speaks for itself. »
Musk, whose management style has been unpredictable since he bought Twitter for $ 44 billion last October included thousands of layoffs, it is known for making a mistake on the platform it owns.
« Have I shot myself in the foot with tweets multiple times? Yes, » Musk said in an interview with the BBC in April. « I think I shouldn’t tweet after 3am »
In fact, Zuckerberg may have an edge if the billionaire spat actually gets physical: Meta CEO started practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu during the COVID-19 pandemic, winning his first local tournament in California last month.
